Allen, Thanks for the info and I'm glad I qualified my answer re "other" Theop. to the Rev. Theop of IL
who's been getting most attention.
I also have info for you. According to my early notes John 4 m. Lydia Whaley, b.abt. 1695. I postulate
some connection with the Theodosia Whaley (of Theop. Whaley) who m. 1697 Robert Spencer. Their
daughter, Susannah Spencer, m. Benjamin 4 (Henry, John, John) Sweet. Lieut.Theop, b. 1636 is their son.
Of the two more-or-less contemporary Theop. Sweets, the 1636 one is the younger, and perhaps rightly
identified as the soldier. Even that was old! Beyond that, I think the records can well be tangled. It does
appear tho' that the Theop. name came twice from the Whaleys. There's a Whaley Gen. in the NEHGS
Lending Library; I may borrow it with my next batch. Thanks again.
